Why?

we have celebrations like chinese new year, deepavali, national day, hari raya aidil fitri and christmas. The theme is ‘lets celebrate’. This year we want to make it look something different and attractive too. I would much obliged if someone can give new ideas on this.

Question 1 :

What do you listen to during Diwali?

What are some popular songs associated with Diwali? Like "Silent Night" for Christmas.
Is it usually classical style, or popular style, like Bollywood music? For Christmas, there is both popular and classical, so I guess it could be similar for Diwali.
Thanks!

I can’t find out what the film is on the internet, so please help if you can

I watched it a couple years ago on the BBC, and it was probably a 15 or 18 (it had sex references, swearing)

And it was about a girl who lived in East London (probably London, or maybe not)

She was Asian, and it was about 1960 – 1980 and she moved to London, and was about 13 – 14 and her and her family were racially abused because they were immigrants. She makes a friend, and there was notably a line she taught her which was ‘shag the a*se of it’ and her friend slept with a boy

and her friend and others racially attacked her uncle and killed him

and then i think at the end of the film the girl movede out of there and there was a card that said ‘happy christmas’ but i think the girl changed it to ‘Diwali’ and said how she didnt celebrate Xmas and it was also a leaving card

Deepavali Festival is Indian festival celebration , Just exactly with Christmas . The Different………? Just culture and race .

Why so much bickering and anger?

We have Santa’s that can’t say "ho ho ho".
We have people wondering how to greet each other and people getting mad if they don’t get the greeting they want.
We have people not sure if its ok to send a religious Christmas card to a non-beleiver.
I mean really people…is it that difficult to wish each other well? Is there a real need to take offense at anything??

In this month there is Ramadan, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Haunakha, Winter Solstice (Yule) and Christmas (treated as secular and religious). All of these religions promote peace and love to be spread amongst each other, regardless if we follow the same religious path. WHY then are we so focused on being angry and trying to "take control" of a day or month?

So my real question is….what are YOU going to do this holiday season to spread peace and love?

My answer: I am buying some clothes for a child that I got off the Christmas Tree at the Unitarian Universalist Church so that child can have clothes and a gift under the tree. I am also going to be working at a homeless shelter so those people can have a warm and loving holiday.

Oh and may you all have a wonderful holiday season!
